Salary £12.33 per hour
Hours will be flexible and cover days, evenings and weekends. Preference will be given to those who have availability during the day.
Principle purpose of the role
To work as part of a team in taking food orders, preparing, and serving food and beverages, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
Planning and delivery
- To provide a welcoming, professional, and efficient service to all customers during agreed opening times.
- To ensure that hot and cold meals and drinks are prepared to order in a timely manner and to a high standard of presentation.
- To prepare Café in readiness for opening hours.
To prepare and serve hot drinks.
- To assist in the preparation and service of the lunch time menu and other snack foods as requested and in accordance with stocks available.
- Operate the till, take receipt of payments, cash-up and report any issues the Bar & Catering Manager
- Welcome customers and assist with bookings and answer their questions.
- Adhere to all cafe policies and procedures.
- Assist in the keeping of relevant records (Food safety)
- Ensure that appropriate stock levels are maintained at all times.
- Re stock condiment area and make sure everything is neat and tidy.
- Ensure that the cafe area is kept clean and tidy and adhere to Health & Safety guidelines.
- Give advice about food content and menu choices.
- Cleaning and tidying work areas, equipment, and coffee machines.
- Handling raw and cooked food safely.
- Keeping eating and serving areas clean and tidy.
- Assist with the setting up of the following day’s opening.
- Empty rubbish bins
- Handling customer enquiries and complaints.

Health and safety
- Adhere to health and safety legislation and Poole Arts Trust’s policies and procedures.
- Report all safety matters to the General Manager
- · To minimise the Trust’s environmental impact wherever possible adhering to and supporting its Sustainability Policy. To include recycling, switching off lights, computers, and equipment when not in use. Helping to reduce paper waste by minimising printing/copying, reducing water usage and reporting faults and heating/cooling concerns promptly.
- To assist the senior steward in ensuring that the café and kitchen areas are kept clean, safe and hygienic at all times and comply with health and safety procedures.
Training
- Take responsibility for their own training and development, including attending and completing relevant induction and mandatory training. Core Training will cover Online IHASCO training and Health and safety as part of the induction.
- To participate with their review process with their line manager, every year and to take up opportunities identified as part of their learning and development.
Representation
Represent Lighthouse at performances, meetings and events, as and when required.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
• Excellent customer service skills. Essential
• A good understanding of food handling and hygiene regulations is required. Desirable
