Lighthouse in Poole is one of this country’s biggest arts centres. We curate over 500 events a year in four amazing venues. We are a charity and we make a huge impact in our local community.

We are looking for a highly creative and imaginative Digital Marketing & Content Creator who can transform our social media channels, design effective digital marketing campaigns and create eye-catching content that tells powerful stories about Lighthouse’s programme and community work. You will help us to increase sales for our events, communicate the impact of our community work and raise awareness of the Lighthouse brand and what we do.
You will have proven experience in creating engaging social and digital content (including video and photography) in a professional context. You will also have proven experience in visual storytelling, digital marketing, video editing and copywriting. With a good sense of humour and a passion for the arts, you will be a flexible, reliable team player who remains adaptable to change.

Principle purpose of the role
The main purpose of the role is to contribute to a high performing, creative and motivated Marketing team by leading on the development of engaging social and digital content that effectively promotes and tells the story of all aspects of Lighthouse’s activities, to build its reputation as a nationally important Arts Centre, achieve Lighthouse income targets and grow audiences.
Support Lighthouse’s marketing and audience development aims, in helping to communicate the story and impact of our community and commercial work, promoting the Lighthouse brand across key social platforms through digital marketing and content creation that will be used for marketing campaigns for a large programme of live shows and films, as well as developing the Lighthouse brand.
Responsible for creating and delivering digital content and using this as a tool to increase our presence with existing and new audiences, to maximise and increase ticket and other sales.
Planning and delivery
- Lead on the planning, creation, coordination, and production of engaging organic content across our social platforms.
- Use data to report on and inform our social strategy and proactively input into increasing impact.
- Support the planning and scheduling of content across our social platforms, making suggestions for how we can get maximum impact from what we share.
- Develop and implement a social content strategy aligned with campaign goals, audience insights and brand values.
- Devise and implement paid social campaigns, to maximise sales for shows and to raise Lighthouse’s profile.
Content Creation
- Lead on creating, editing and delivering high-quality video, photography and graphic content for use across social media, email and digital advertising.
- Create original and imaginative content that reflects the ambitions and mission of Lighthouse, promoting shows, and telling compelling stories about the impact of our work with the community and artists.
- Use formats and tools to ensure our content is fresh and relevant for the platforms that we use.
- Keep up to date with current social trends and find authentic ways in which Lighthouse can engage with them, and organic social conversations as they happen.
- Create ever-green content about Lighthouse and the work that we do, giving a behind the scenes insight and telling stories about the impact we have.
- Create digital content for campaigns that is in line with our tone of voice, style and brand.
- Work collaboratively with visiting show producers, to identify opportunities to create social content that helps to promote the show and give behind-the-scenes insights into its creation Lighthouse visit.
- Work collaboratively with our pantomime’s creative team, creating content that promotes the show and gives an insight into its creation in Poole.
- Ensure the consistent use of our brand identity in all content that is created to promote and advocate Lighthouse.
- Ensure campaigns are warm, welcoming and creative in line with Lighthouse’s tone of voice, style and branding.
Marketing
- Enhance digital presence, growing audiences and supporting sales targets through promotion of shows and events and advocating the Lighthouse brand and story.
- Continually increase the numbers of social followers and boost the number of engagements with our posts.
- Work collaboratively with visiting producers to plan and implement paid social campaigns, working to agreed budgets and undertaking analytics on their impact.
- Work with the Marketing team to create a distinctive tone of voice on our social channels.
- Track performance and engagement metrics and share regular insights to inform strategies and propose new ways to increase audience engagement.
- Collaborate with special promotions and initiatives as required.
- Actively take part in team planning to contribute to and help shape creative ideas.
- Support and manage projects for interns, trainees and volunteers when required.
- Effectively liaise with other departments within the organisation to ensure that all marketing and organisational objectives are met.
Communication
- Work alongside the marketing team to develop audiences and awareness for all work undertaken by Lighthouse on and off stage, making sure we are consistent, positive and authentic in how we present ourselves, and how we engage with audiences to tell a story that is aligned with our brand and values.
- Attend regular team briefings and ensure that the flow of information, both within the department and to others, is clear, accurate and timely.
- Liaise and form positive working relations with other Lighthouse teams.
- Develop good working relationships with external promoters, building clients and other service providers.
- Work collaboratively with our Creative Engagement Team, to create authentic content that tells the story of our work with the community and artists.
- Work collaboratively with our Development Team, to create content that shows the impact that Lighthouse has on its community, helping to make a powerful case for support and to encourage donations.
Finance
- Work within agreed defined budgets.
- Follow procurement policies at all times, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Training
- Take responsibility for their own training and development, including attending and completing relevant induction and mandatory training. Core Training will cover Online IHASCO training and Health and safety as part of the induction.
- To participate with their review process with their line manager, every year and to take up opportunities identified as part of their learning and development.
Health and Safety
- Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and Lighthouse’s Policies and Procedures.
- To minimise Lighthouse’s environmental impact wherever possible adhering to and supporting its Sustainability Policy. To include recycling, switching off lights, computers and equipment when not in use. Helping to reduce paper waste by minimising printing/copying, reducing water usage by reporting faults and heating/cooling concerns promptly.
Representation
- Represent Lighthouse at performances, meetings and events, as and when required.

Personal specification
Essential
- Proven experience in creating engaging social organic content, in a professional context.
- Proven experience in creating digital content, particularly video and photography, in a professional context.
- Excellent visual storytelling, editing, and copywriting skills.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop), or similar.
- Highly organised and adept at managing multiple concurrent projects and able to prioritise own workload.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a manner appropriate to the audience, draft correspondence and email responses. High level of written English.
- Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility.
- Confident in creating compelling, engaging content and adapting tone to suit the audience.
- Ability to be adaptable and negotiate with external organisations to agree and secure competitive deals.
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Desirable
- Qualification in Digital marketing.
- Experience in creating digital content for a Live Arts venue
