Job Opportunity: Casual Theatre Technician
Location: Lighthouse, Poole
Start Date: From 1st September 2025
Rate of Pay: £12.55 per hour
Additional benefits include TMA allowances for specific events, bonus payments for Sunday shifts, and enhanced rates for designated working hours. Holiday pay will be accrued on hours worked.

Lighthouse, Poole is Dorset’s leading multi-space arts venue and one of the largest regional arts centres in the UK. Our vibrant complex includes:
- A 670-seat theatre
- A 1,476-seat concert hall (which converts into a flat-floor live music venue)

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Casual Theatre Technicians to join our technical team for the 2025/26 season and beyond. You will play a key role in supporting the technical delivery of a wide range of productions and events at Lighthouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with get-ins, show preps, live running, pack-downs, and get-outs for all events and productions.
- Operate and move scenic elements and technical equipment, including lighting, sound, AV, rigging, wardrobe, and special effects.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety and Fire Safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with visiting companies, artists, and internal teams to ensure a professional and welcoming environment.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions as required.

Essential Qualities
- A keen interest in theatre and live events.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and listening skills.
- Commitment to learning and developing new skills.
- Awareness of Health & Safety practices.
- Comfortable working at height using ladders, telescopes, and from lighting bridges.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills (Training Provided if Needed)
- Basic knowledge of theatre technology (e.g. DMX, ETC EOS software, QLab, digital sound desks).
- Experience with counterweight flying systems.
- Technical understanding of lighting, sound, AV, or rigging.
